Sustainable finance for MSMEs and start-ups with projects in the green and climate adaptation space. A blended finance product developed by the Environmental Investment Fund of Namibia and managed by Bellatrix, offering concessional loans, guarantees and equity.

What the facility is for

The Green Credit Line Facility (GCLF) exists to put sustainable capital in the hands of Namibian MSMEs and start-ups, with three objectives.

Cleaner production

Help MSMEs and start-ups improve their environmental footprint by adopting cleaner technology and methods that cut hazardous waste, greenhouse gas emissions and water pollutants, while becoming more competitive.

Rural and off-grid impact

Make a tangible impact in the Namibian economy through concessional loans, guarantees and equity, targeted mainly at communities in rural and off-grid areas.

Social and economic upliftment

Support the deployment of innovative green technologies and sustainable agricultural practices that mitigate the effects of climate change.

Facility products

Concessional loans

Bridge finance and term loans from N$20 000 to N$2 000 000, repayable over up to 6 years with a 6 to 12 month grace period.

Guarantees

Performance and financial guarantees from N$100 000 to N$2 000 000.

Equity funding

Equity investment of up to N$6 000 000 for projects with the scale and bankability to support it.

Who qualifies

Applications are assessed against five criteria. Preference is given to MSMEs owned by women, youth and previously disadvantaged individuals.

Your facility

  • A business plan for the project
  • A completed Bellatrix application form (online or the downloadable form)

Your business

  • Entity registration documents for a close corporation, private company or trust
  • Good standing certificates from NAMRA and the Social Security Commission
  • MSME certificate

KYC for each member, shareholder or director

  • Namibian ID or valid passport for each member, shareholder, director, sole proprietor, trustee, beneficiary and authorised signatory (police stamp not older than 3 months)
  • Latest proof of residence for each of the above (municipal bill, lease agreement or police declaration)
  • For non-Namibian residents: foreign ID or passport, or permanent residence permit, plus proof of residence
  • If married or divorced: marriage certificate, spouse’s ID or antenuptial contract, or divorce decree
  • Proof of business address (municipal bill or lease agreement)
  • Proof of bank account (bank confirmation letter)
  • 6 months’ bank statements for the business (existing businesses only)
  • 6 months’ personal bank statements for each member, shareholder, sole proprietor, trustee or beneficiary
  • Balance sheet of assets and liabilities for each member, shareholder, sole proprietor, trustee or beneficiary (template provided)
